Despite one of the worst selling markets in decades, Italian automaker Fiat is preparing to return to the same market it abandoned a quarter of a century earlier. Thanks to its new strategic business alliance with Chrysler LLC, Fiat cars as well as several Alfa Romeo models will soon be sold via Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep showrooms. This move, which is still in the planning stages, could yield as many as seven new models for the domestic market, a wide ranging fleet of cars for American and Canadian drivers.
Look for the next generation Dodge Caliber or its replacement model to show up in 2012 as a 2013 model. Also, if Chrysler is to keep pace with Buick, then an answer to the compact Verano is in order. Look for Jeep to see changes too as the Compass and Patriot are dropped or replaced and the Wrangler updated.
